Under the auspices
of Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, Swami Satyananda's guru, Bihar School of Yoga was founded in 1963 in Munger, Bihar, India.
Swami Satyananda was told to "spread yoga from shore to shore & door to door," by Swami Sivananda.
Bihar School of Yoga ashram is ahrama style yogic living, where yoga is taught, practiced and lived; now also an
institution of yogic studies, Bihar Yoga Bharati in 1994 - teaches yoga sciences and philosophies at under graduate and post
graduate levels.
Bihar School of Yoga ashram
is also in Rikhia, Jharkhand, India.
A yoga campus is emerging here in Rikhia, dedicated
to the various philosophies which expound yoga.

School of Yoga and Bihar Yoga Bharati fulfill the spiritual vision of Swami Sivananda.
Bihar School of Yoga teaches traditional yoga from Vedanta, Upanishads, Tantra, Samkhya & other philosophies
that contain yoga.

(Paramahamsa) Niranjanananda Saraswati is the successor to Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
Swami
(Paramahamsa) Satyasangananda Saraswati has been named the Peethadeeshwari of Rikhiapeeth by Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
Swami Suryaprakash Saraswati has been named successor to Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati for
Bihar School of Yoga.
The traditional
lineage of Adi Shankaracharya is followed and upheld.
To study the yoga
sciences and philosophies is a possibility in Munger and Rikhia ashrams of Bihar School of Yoga.
