Basics that come before yoga: 
 
Philosophy of Life; Association with the truth; Humility.  
 
HATHA, RAJ, GYANA, KARMA, BHAKTI, MANTRA, NADA, KUNDALINI, KRIYA, LAYA YOGA are the branches of yoga.
 
ASHTANGA YOGA 
 
or 8 BODIES OF YOGA are: 
 
YAMAS, NIYAMAS, ASANA, PRANAYAMA, PRATYAHARA, DHARANA, DHYANA, SAMADHI,
 
are the eight (8) limbs of yoga mentioned by Patanjali in the yoga sutras. 
 
Sivananda Yoga goes beyond the 8 limbs of yoga: 
 
Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Be Good, Do Good, Meditate, Realize. 
 
Bhakti Yoga: 
 
Navanga Yoga or 9 limbs of yoga. 
 
Purifying the emotions; refining; adjusting.
